Merrick carefully watched the doorway where the masked man would soon be re-emerging from. "Don't worry, Destiny. I'm not going to be the you should be worrying about if they're going to start a fight or not." Merrick glanced over to Ciaran then back to the doorway. "He's the one who's been wanting to plunge a knife into practically everyone he's met already."

The masked man walked back up, dried meats in hand. He opened a drawer under one of the shelves and pulled out some cloth, tying the meats together, and put a bit of a brown liquid onto the cloth. The meat's skin started to peel easier as the man pulled it off. As the skin was laid on the table, it kept curling up into circular balls.

"Oh that bugger", Cìaran thought as he smelt the delicious food coming from the kitchen and then saw it being placed on the table. He was going to use food against them, and it was DEFINITELY going to work. His character needed food badly and too be honest he was hungry as well. The in-game food would, at least, distract him. Thank you technology. The food was either poisoned with something deadly in means of death or possibly a persuading potion... If such a thing existed in the game world. Most likely the second since he seemed to want something from them. Although, looking at the food he didn't notice any immediate red flags... However, his alchemy skill was, admittedly, one of his lowest major skills. On the other hand, it could just be him trying to be nice so they'd cooperate with him and he could in fact be showing that he was all right...Yet, he doubted the second one greatly. Oh well, he was hungry and he CERTAINLY wasn't going to be rude enough to refuse such a hard-worked meal. Because, you know, making a virtual meal is painstaking... Right?

The masked man chuckled. "You know, a lot of people don't trust me. Maybe it's the fact that I am neither a working man for the government nor a rebel. I'm not even neutral at this stage, considering I am not a citizen of any nation on this landmass."
He kept on cutting the dried meats, taking the skins and letting them curl up. The concoction was purely for culinary use. Made the skin crisp up and become, while less healthy, a lot easier to eat due to it not being as chewy. The meat itself still had to be cooked. He moved to another piece of flooring and pushed slightly on it with his hand in the center of the panel. A click and rumbling was heard as he walked back over the opened panels leading to the storage unit. Instead of walking down, he pushed the wall to his right a certain distance up, and a cooking cauldron, complete with water, was in the wall space.
Heaving it down onto the floor, he searched through his pockets, took out what looked like a key and a few strange looking rocks. He walked over to the cellar door leading to his upstairs roommates, and locked it. He then proceeded to open the one that led outside.
"Just a warning," He said. "It's going to get very hot in here very quickly."
He pressed another button on the wall. Another space of paneling flipped, revealing a stone underside. He positioned the cauldron to the center of it and threw the rocks in, which sparked and lit the center circle of the stone panel on fire. The fire burned quickly, and the heat rose until even he turned away from his guests to flap his mask against his face.
"Should be done in, say, about ten to fifteen minutes." His tone was... underwhelming. He seemed like this was a normal day for him.

Merrick stepped away from the wall slightly and stood in awe of the place. It certainly wasn't anything he'd have expected to be in the game, let alone be available for someone so early on. Merrick regained his composure and started to notice the heat. He moved back to a far wall, trying to keep was far away from the source as possible. He mumbled to himself, though unsure if it was audible to the others. "I'm meant for the cold. Not this bullshit warmth."

The masked man nodded. "Very well. However, as I've said before, I'm not permitted to say anything about my employer or the package. I suppose, though, if you were to gain my trust, that what he wouldn't hear wouldn't hurt him."
After using a pair of large caliper-looking tool to check the meat, He chuckled as he picked up some plates off of a nearby shelf.
"Company is far and in between these days, but when I have it, I'm always prepared," he explained.

Merrick cringed at the mention of the beta test. "I never get picked for the beta for anything..." He sighed then mumbled to himself. "Not for a lack of trying." Merrick leant in close to Ciaran. "Heh. She's actually quite cute when she's excited."

The man laughed. "Beta testing... There was a fun ordeal. I never actually got anything out of it, though. Just a virtual medal shaped like a Dachshund."
He set the plates down in front of his guests and rummaged through his pockets, pulling out such medal. "See? No effects, no indication of anything important ever actually happening..."
His expression went blank. "... H-... How did I get this place?

Cìaran laughed. "Heh, I'll give ye that one. I hope that she's this nice outside of this as well...And maybe lives close hehehe....Where are you from anyhow? If ye donna mind. I know that I'm pretty....reluctant. But a city or country name is pretty vague. And most gamers don't are all the same, harmless curiosity. Unless you get a real creepy guy but I don't think anyone over 40 could understand how to play this hahaha."

Merrick looked at Ciaran then shook his head and started laughing at the notion of telling this man anything about him outside of this game. "Maybe you should have been the jester in the square." He lightly patted Ciaran on the back then waved over Destiny. "Destiny. Could you come over here a second?"

The masked man nodded. "Just remember that the dinner doesn't get any warmer."
He turned to Ciaran. "I'm from a place, as are you, as are the people you associate yourself with."
He paused. "Are you going to eat that?

Merrick laughed. "Oh definitely. When this is over we were going to gang up on you and take everything you own." Merrick's face quickly become more serious. "While the prospect of a larger cut is a very convincing thing, I have no reason to betray you." He then looked over to the masked man and spoke quietly to Destiny. "I'm just wondering why we're still here wasting time when we could be getting on with it? This man is far too... Mysterious for me to trust right now, and don't even get me started on Ciaran. I don't really trust you yet, but I'll trust you a damn lot more than either of these two. You seem like the most reasonable and level headed person out of the lot of us. So again... Why are we still here indulging a madman who can't even remember how he got his own home?"

Cìaran pondered this statement whilst nibbling on small pieces of his meal. As usual, he elected to sit and observe the events going on around him. He was fairly satisfied though, the meal was delectable.

The masked man smiled and adjusted his mask. The straps on it were a bit loose. He pulled them back, making them tighten up.
Afterwards, he dug out a small stone in his back pocket of his robe. This one was larger, about as long as his index finger, but about as wide as his thumb. It had a blue hue and a slightly translucent crystal-like make-up.
He knelt down to the fire and rubbed the stone on his skin. Rolling up his sleeves, he proceeded to run it onto his upper arms as well. He reached into the fire and grabbed the still aflame stones and held them in his hand, the flames starting to die out. When the flames were completely extinguished, he set them down on the concrete slab to cool.
"This stone," He said, taking it out again, "Is the only one in the game I've seen so far. When rubbed on your body, the skin becomes resistant to the elements, including shock, fire, and ice. I was luckily able to keep it through Beta testing, and since it hasn't disappeared, I know it's not something that was supposed to be fixed during the patching."
"I have experimented with it, and it seems to be a temporary effect," He continued, "But the package we've been asked to deliver can change that and much, much more. Enchantments right now are nothing special, but with the object in that box - "
He pointed at the package on the table.
" - We can become powerful. The game will not limit the players to just merely being overpowered humans. It will become a power-hungry struggle. A reformation of government. There will be no more country rule by those that call themselves born into power. There will be a revolt, and if you want to be a part of it, then you will help deliver the first object."

Merrick stepped closer to the package, ignoring the heat he had previously complained about. "Powerful you say? Hmmmm. But Destiny makes a good point, why would you trust such a thing to people like us? You've seen us, we're not exactly The Dream Team here..." He didn't mention anyone in particular but he did quickly glance over to Ciaran.
